Dive Into Comfort with Our Super King Bedding Range
Once thought of as simply a luxury for plush hotel rooms, super king beds are now growing in popularity with Australian homeowners for their unrivalled comfort and functionality.
No longer must you place extra pressure on your joints or fight for the duvet – instead, enjoy the extra 20 cm in width and create a stunning bedroom centrepiece to marvel at every day. Discover your ideal super king size bedding companion and explore some of our bestselling accessories to kit out your room below:
Quilts
Want to achieve that decadent bedroom atmosphere that can often be found with hotel beds and interior design magazines? Using super king quilts and doonas helps to create the oversized, decadent look that feels as if you’ve just stepped into a bedroom fit for royalty.
Our luxury quilts come in varying warmth ratings and premium materials for use in colder climates, during those sweltering summers, or all year round. Here are some of the Australian-made super king doonas you’ll find here at Planet Linen:
-
Winter Quilts: High-warmth quilts like Bianca’s Woolly Comforts 550gsm Wool Quilt contain stuffing to keep you cosy and comfortable when that cold chill starts to appear in the air.
-
Summer Quilts: Experience exceptional ventilation and gentle coverage with a super king size summer quilt. Made with a patented light blend of wool and cotton, the MiniJumbuk Cool Quilt is ideal for those who frequently overheat in bed.
-
All-Season Quilts: Options such as the Linen House All Seasons 2-in-1 Quilt come with two polyester quilts that can be clipped together for superior warmth or used on their own for a lighter coverage.
-
Bamboo Quilts: Choose a Natural Sleep Bamboo Quilt for durability and breathability that keeps you cool during the summer. These super king quilts contain a pure bamboo fill and are encased in a light, yet luxurious cotton japara cover.
-
Down quilts: Down quilts are made from feathers that act as an additional layer of insulation, locking in body heat for total comfort and warmth. Our bestseller is the Downia Ultimate Loft White Quilt, which is filled with white goose down and feathers for those cold winter nights.
Quilt Covers, Coverlets, and Bedspreads
Measuring 270 x 240 cm, our Super King Quilt Covers are designed to completely encase your super size doonas, offering that extra hang to cover both sides of your mattress.
Bring a touch of subtle sophistication to your bedroom with our range of Glamorous Quilt Covers, or choose a Minimal design to add a softer pop of colour. Either way, you’ll find a variety of styles and materials to match your aesthetic and functionality needs at Planet Linen, from breathable linen to luxurious Super King Bedspreads.
As a lightweight, thinner option, Super King Coverlets are a great way of adding a decorative layer to your bed during the warmer months. Choosing a coverlet also means you can jazz up your bed with minimal effort; simply pop yours on top of the mattress, without having to wrestle with a quilt and cover!
One of our most popular options is the Olivia Grey Coverlet Set by Bianca. Featuring a sophisticated tailored edge, the subtle ornate rose design in white is contrasted beautifully by a light grey background for that luxurious fresh feel.
Why Should I Buy Super King Bedding?
Regardless of whether or not you have a super king bed, we’d always recommend sizing up when it’s time to choose bedding.
Investing in super king size doonas for king beds provides extra coverage on both sides, which offers both functionality and style benefits. This includes:
- Combating cold breezes coming from the bottom or sides of the quilt
- Improving warmth
- Allowing extra overhang or drop to cover the entire mattress
- Offering a more luxurious appearance with the option to tuck the doona under the mattress
- Expanding your styling options, like making more room for cushions and throws
- Avoiding a tug of war with the quilt during the night if you share a bed!
FAQs
How Much Bigger is a Super King Quilt Than a King?
Super king quilts measure 270 x 240 cm, while standard king size doonas are only 245 x 210 cm. This means that they offer an additional 25 cm in width and 30 cm in length, which provides superior space, comfort, and warmth for your bedroom.
Will King Size Bedding Fit a Super King Bed?
While king size quilts and covers may seem big enough, they won’t completely cover your super king bed. This is because they are around 20 cm wider than regular king size beds, so we’d recommend upgrading your quilts, covers, coverlets, sheets, or bedspreads by one size to ensure optimal comfort.
Should I Put a Super King Doona on a King Bed?
Using a doona bigger than your bed is ideal for helping to keep you warm during the night. This is because heavier, more substantial super king quilts prevent cool air from entering through the bottom or the sides. The extra 20 cm in width also creates an overhang and lengthy drape, which adds a touch of luxury to your bedroom.
How Much Overhang Should a Quilt Have?
To create that luxury, hotel room feel with a super king size bed mattress measuring 203 x 203 cm, we’d recommend selecting a quilt that’s around 2 to 4 inches wider than the bed. This overhang will help to keep you warm and comfortable during the night, while also providing a decadent-looking drape for your bed.
