Super king quilts measure 270 x 240 cm, while standard king size doonas are only 245 x 210 cm. This means that they offer an additional 25 cm in width and 30 cm in length, which provides superior space, comfort, and warmth for your bedroom.

Will King Size Bedding Fit a Super King Bed?

While king size quilts and covers may seem big enough, they won’t completely cover your super king bed. This is because they are around 20 cm wider than regular king size beds, so we’d recommend upgrading your quilts, covers, coverlets, sheets, or bedspreads by one size to ensure optimal comfort.

Should I Put a Super King Doona on a King Bed?

Using a doona bigger than your bed is ideal for helping to keep you warm during the night. This is because heavier, more substantial super king quilts prevent cool air from entering through the bottom or the sides. The extra 20 cm in width also creates an overhang and lengthy drape, which adds a touch of luxury to your bedroom.

How Much Overhang Should a Quilt Have?

To create that luxury, hotel room feel with a super king size bed mattress measuring 203 x 203 cm, we’d recommend selecting a quilt that’s around 2 to 4 inches wider than the bed. This overhang will help to keep you warm and comfortable during the night, while also providing a decadent-looking drape for your bed.
